Huarache is a word derived from the Purépecha people who in the pre-columbian era inhabited the west of actual México and covered the states of Michiócan and Jalisco. The proper english translation of huarache is sandal. The huarache used to be made with cacti, Jaguar skin and other animal skins. Nowadays they are produced strictly with cow leather to provide a very resistant and comfortable shoe.
Our Nemi Project Huaraches are handmade from carefully chosen artisans who conserve this tradition and skill in Sahuayo, Michiócan. We offer a limited selection of unique contemporary huarache designs that stand out with their authentic quality and refined elegance. We offer predominately gender neutral huarache styles, in a natural colour palette of browns and black.
